Leading Governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has assured the people that he would fight poverty and ensure redistribution of wealth towards moving the state forward.
Ogunbiyi who gave the assurance during his ongoing consultations and campaign tour of Boripe Local Government yesterday, pledged that if elected his government would support the youths, women, workers and ensure good education while putting sound health care in place.
Welcoming the aspirant, the youths who were apparently angry, expressed disappointment in the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC and appealed to Dr. Ogunbiyi to make people’s welfare his priority, if elected.
The youths who spoke through Mr. Orisatoye Fatai cried out that there was mass poverty in the state, noting that the best the ruling APC government had done for youths so far was the recruitment of graduates being paid peanut that was not sufficient for their personal well-being, let alone their family.
He stated this at Okuku town hall, in Odo Otin local government where hundreds of youths, stakeholders and supporters of the PDP converged to receive the governor hopeful. He appealed to Ogunbiyi to ensure that youths are taken care of in his government.
Similarly, Hon. Olusegun Adebisi, a frontline political figure in the local government maintained that the seven and half years of APC government had subjected the people of Osun to hardship. “We have been suffering and praying to God to please choose a good leader for us.
“We need improvement and are glad to see Ogunbiyi standing up to rescue Osun.” he said.
The local government chairman, Mr. Salaudeen Oyedokun in his remarks attested to the fact that poverty was taking huge toll on the people and prayed that the aspirant should address lack of water and poor access road in the area”.
Meanwhile, Hon. Amusa Adeniyi Awolu, a chieftain of the party has admonished delegates of the PDP to stand gallantly for the truth and ensure that the party fields the right candidate in the forthcoming election. He begged the delegates and stakeholders not to compromise.
“Let us work together to end poverty in Osun. Vote the right candidate and don’t jeopardize the future of Osun” Awolu, a PDP leader noted at Isale-Oyo in Boripe local government area of the state.
Hon. Owolabi Omotayo, the chairman of the party in Boripe, represented by Hon. Abosede Sabitu assured that the PDP would move Osun forward.”
